My visit to the National Gallery!

One 'must see' when you are in London, whether you are an art lover or not, is the National Gallery.  The reason is that it displays one of the finest collections of Western European painting, representing artists of the late medieval period and Renaissance to the French impressionists.  But moreover, it's the building of the National Gallery which is a 'must see' attraction, situated in Trafalgar Square.
So, a stop at the National Gallery was a must for me and Androniki, since there is always something new to see, exhibited in the Gallery.

Κάτι που' πρέπει να δείς' όταν βρίσκεσαι στο Λονδίνο , είτε είσαι λάτρης της τέχνης είτε όχι, είναι η Εθνική Πινακοθήκη.  Ο λόγος είναι ότι εκθέτει μία από τις καλύτερες συλλογές της δυτικοευρωπαϊκής ζωγραφικής, εκπροσωπώντας καλλιτέχνες της μεσαιωνικής περιόδου και της Αναγέννησης ως τους Γάλλους ιμπρεσιονιστές.  Αλλά επιπλέον, το κτίριο της Εθνικής Πινακοθήκης είναι ένα αξιοθέατο που πρέπει να δεις, το οποίο βρίσκεται στην πλατεία Trafalgar.
Έτσι, μία στάση στην Εθνική Πινακοθήκη ήταν απαραίτητη για εμένα και την Ανδρονική, αφού πάντα υπάρχει κάτι καινούριο να δεις, το οποίο εκτίθεται στην Πινακοθήκη.

Our day couldn't end better than having some drinks with our friend George in a new entry place, the amazing bar of London Edition Hotel, highly recommended if you' ll be in London.
Η μέρα μας δε θα μπορούσε να τελειώσει καλύτερα από το να βγούμε για ποτό με τον φίλο μας Γιώργο σ' ένα καινούριο μέρος, το καταπληκτικό μπαρ του London Edition Hotel, το οποίο σας συστήνω ανεπιφύλακτα αν βρεθείτε στο Λονδίνο.

Perfect weekend at Manassu!

After spending 3 weeks in cold Amsterdam, I couldn't see the time to spend some time by the sea, under the amazing, hot, Greek sun.  Fortunately, I had planned to spend the previous  weekend, at a perfect place in the beautiful Sithonia, Chalkidiki.  We stayed for three days at Akti Oneirou (Dream Coast) bungalows, which are right at the seaside, and spent all day and night at Manassu Beach bar and restaurant... 

Μέτα από 3 εβδομάδες στο κρύο Άμστερνταμ, δεν έβλεπα την ώρα να βρεθώ στη θάλασσα, κάτω από τον υπέροχο, καυτό, Ελληνικό ήλιο.  Ευτυχώς, είχα προγραμματίσει να πέρασω το προηγούμενο Σαββατοκύριακο, σε ένα τέλειο μέρος στην πανέμορφη Σιθωνία της Χαλκιδικής.  Μείναμε για τρεις μέρες στα bungalows της Ακτής Ονείρου, τα οποία είναι ακριβώς πάνω στην παραλία, και περάσαμε τρεις υπέροχες μέρες και νύχτες στο Manassu Beach bar and restaurant...

Εnjoying the ultimate summertime relaxation, we spent the whole day at the beach, sunbathing and swimming.   

Απολαύσαμε την απόλυτη καλοκαιρινή ξεκούραση, περάσαμε ολόκληρη την ημέρα στην παραλία, κολυμπώντας και κάνοντας ηλιοθεραπεία.

Some beach essentials...

I love this place and I visit it every year with my best friends, at least once.  The beach and the sea are perfect, the people and the service are great and it's a perfect match of relaxation and fun.  There is an excellent restaurant where you can enjoy your meals,  admiring the amazing view, just like we did!  What I also love about the restaurant is its decoration, all in white and blue, reminds you of the greek islands!

Αγαπώ αυτό το μέρος και το επισκέπτομαι κάθε χρόνο μαζί με πολύ καλούς φίλους, τουλάχιστον μια φορά.  Η θάλασσα και η παραλία είναι τέλεια, οι άνθρωποί του και το service άψογα, ενώ συνδυάζει τέλεια την ηρέμια με τη διασκέδαση.  Υπάρχει ένα εξαιρετικό εστιατόριο, με υπέροχη κυκλαδίτικη διακόσμηση, όπου μπορείς να απολαύσεις τα γεύματα σου, θαυμάζοντας την υπέροχη θέα, όπως ακριβώς κάναμε κι εμεις!

International Day of Museums

During the previous weekend, on the 18th and19th of May, it was the 'International Day of Museums'.  The message was 'the museums to be the carriers of cultural exchanges, in order to  develop education and mutual comprehension, the collaboration and peace between people'.  Everybody could visit the museums in the whole country with free entrance.

So, last Saturday, I decided to participate in this celebration and I  visited some museums in the center of Athens.

Kατά τη διάρκεια του προηγούμενου Σαββατοκύριακου, στις 18 και 19 Μαίου, ήταν η 'Διεθνής Ημέρα Μουσείων'.  Το μήνυμα ήταν 'τα μουσεία να γίνουν φορείς πολιτισμικών ανταλλαγών, με σκοπό την ανάπτυξη της μόρφωσης και της αμοιβαίας κατανόησης, τη συνεργασία και την ειρήνη ανάμεσα στους λαούς'.  Ο καθένας μπορούσε να επισκεπτεί τα μουσεία όλης της χώρας με ελευύθερη είσοδο.

Έτσι, το προηγούμενο Σάββατο, αποφάσισα να συμμετάσχω σ' αυτή τη γιορτή και επισκέφτηκα κάποια μουσεία στο κέντρο της Αθήνας.

Το ντύσιμο μου: Zara μαρινιέρα, Sfera παντελόνι, Juicy Couture τσάντα, Toms παπούτσια, και Ray Ban γυαλιά ηλίου.

First stop: Benaki Museum at Kolonaki which hosts different exhibitions from antiquity to modern design.  During this specific weekend, there were live laboratories with craftsmen and artists who created in front of visitors, according to the different exhibitions. 

Πρώτη στάση: το Μουσείο Μπενάκη στο Κολωνάκι το οποίο φιλοξενεί διάφορες εκθέσεις, από την αρχαιότητα εώς το σύγχρονο design.  Κατά τη διάρκεια του συγκεκριμένου Σαββατοκύριακου, υπήρχαν τεχνίτες και καλλιτέχνες οι οποίοι δημιουργούσαν μπροστά στους επισκέπτες, σχετικά με την κάθε έκθεση.

I continued with my visit at the 'B & M Theocharakis Foundation for the Fine Arts & Music' that hosts the exhibition 'Makroulakis: The Harmony of Images 1956-2013'.  In the mean time, a live concert devoted to the Spanish culture was taking place in the garden of the museum.

Συνέχισα με την επίσκεψή μου στο 'Ίδρυμα Εικαστικών Τεχνών & Μουσικής Β & Μ Θεοχαράκη' το οποίο φιλοξενεί την έκθεση 'Μακρουλάκης: Η Αρμονία των Εικόνων 1956-2013'.  Tαυτόχρονα, πραγματοποιούνταν συναυλία αφιερωμένη στην Ισπανική κουλτούρα στον κήπο του μουσείου.

 

I ended my day at the 'Acropolis Museum' where the atmospere was magic.  The light of Acropolis in combination with a live concert in the yard of the museum really charmed me!

Τελείωσα τη μέρα μου στο 'Μουσείο Ακρόπολης' όπου η ατμόσφαιρα ήταν μαγική.  Το φως της Ακρόπολης σε συνδυασμό με μια συναυλία στο προαύλιο του μουσείου πραγματικά με μάγεψαν!
